What you will learn in this tutorial:

In this lesson by Chris Tisdell, we'll delve into the art of bisecting angles using a circle arc template. It may sound a bit complex, but Chris makes it easy to understand, and he even does it on a blackboard with chalk!

We start with an angle, which is defined by two lines meeting. We'll call these lines AB and BC, and the vertex  where they meet is point B. Chris wants to cut this angle perfectly in half, creating two smaller angles that are exactly the same.

Now, here comes the magic with the circle arc template. Chris places this tool at point B, right at the vertex of the angle. Then, he uses it to draw a curved line, which we call an arc. This arc creates two new points on our lines AB andBC, and we'll name these points D and E.

Now, we have these extra points, D and E, and they're like special centres for drawing more arcs. Chris uses D as a centre to draw another arc, and he does the same with E. These two new arcs meet at a point we'll call F. So, we have this intersection point F right in the “middle” of our angle.

Chris then draws a straight line from point B to the intersection point F. This line cuts our angle ABC into two equal parts.

Now, we've successfully bisected the angle ABC! We turned one angle into two, and they're identical in size. This technique can be really useful in geometry.

The circle arc template and the way Chris used it to bisect this angle show us how geometry can be both fun and practical. It's like having a secret tool to split angles, and once you understand it, you can use it to solve all sorts of angle-cutting puzzles.

So, thanks to Chris Tisdell's chalkboard demonstration, we've learned a fantastic way to bisect angles using the circle arc template. This fundamental geometric construction may seem like a magic trick, but it's all about understanding the art of angles, lines and circles. Next time you encounter an angle, you'll knowhow to cut it in half like a geometry pro!
